  » Città di Castello
Located in the northern part of Umbria, close to the Tuscany, it is a classic example of a Renaissance city. The City Art Gallery holds works by Raphael, Luca Signorelli, Ghirlandaio, Della Robbia, Vasari and other Renaissance painters, while masterpieces by Piero della Francesca can be admired in the nearby cities of Sansepolcro (the artist’s birthplace), Monterchi, Arezzo and Urbino. Medieval villages that have remained unchanged lie off the beaten track, dotting the rolling hills just outside the city walls.

These towns are the ideal place to go for walks, excursions on bicycles (which can be rented at the hotel), tours on horseback (there are a number of well-outfitted stables in the area) or gourmet and wine-tasting stops in the country.

A brand-new 9-hole golf course has recently been opened nearby and is just a 10 minutes away by car.Lastly, because of its geographical location, Città di Castello is the ideal base for day-trips to the most important tourist attractions in Umbria and Tuscany.

Because of its geographic position, Città di Castello offers plenty of opportunities to practice outdoor activities such as horse riding, hiking, rafting, and cycling as well as to simply enjoy walks in the sorrounding countryside. Tasting of local food and wines is also available in wineries in Città di Castello and close by. Furthermore, artistic and historic routes in the Upper Tiber Valley will allow you to appreciate the works of artists, whose best creations originated in this area.
